In January, I decided to eat in Giraffe. I enjoyed my breakfast, and the restaurant has music playing in the background; the music is from different parts of the world, and the general theme for the restaurant is 'foods from around the world'. Despite that, in August, I wanted a seat next to the window, and there were plenty free, but the staff wouldn't let me sit at them. The tables weren't reserved either. Also, the waitress was foreign and didn't speak much English at all, so I had a hard time trying to tell her what I wanted. Eventually, I managed to speak to an English-speaking waitress, who didn't seem at all bothered when I said to her that I want a seat next to the window or I'll eat somewhere else. In August, I ended up eating somewhere else. Basically, an ok place to dine before a flight with good value, but only dine at Giraffe if you have plenty of time on your hands.

When I went in August, I decided to eat at Bar MCR, and I was very pleased with the quality of food, service and cleanliness. I am an aviation enthusiast - so I like to take pictures and videos of planes, and Bar MCR offers the best views of aircraft from Terminal 1 at Manchester Airport. I chose the Chilli Con Carne, which was served with rice, soured cream and nachos, and it was tasty and also quite spicy. The atmosphere in the bar is quite relaxed and modern, although a 'service' bell in the adjacent restaurant, Giraffe, can be quite annoying as it is constantly being rung. All in all, it's a nice place to relax with a drink before a flight.
