I fly several times a month and over the last several months the service at the main terminal Pour la France has deteriorated substantially. A manager needs to pose as a customer to see how poor the service is. One waiter folded napkins while I sat waiting service. A waitress eventually appeared, but didn't reappear for many minutes, took long times to deliver a drink, then the food. I had to remind her to refill water when she should have noticed this. Several other customers had to do the same and as I had to, ask several times for the check. While making herself seem busy, she and another waiter chatted idly, ignoring the few customers present. It took me 45 minutes to eat a meal comprising only an iced tea and onion soup. This is an airport and most of us want food served rapidly. The tables were perhaps 10% occupied; being busy is not an excuse.
The quality of food has also decreased. The onion soup was literally thrown together. And why does it take 20 minutes to make something so simple?
In contrast, the Pour la France in United concourse area is excellent and obviously managed by totally different people. Service is efficient, very fast and friendly. The main terminal restaurant is failing badly. Either fire every single person there or replace it with a food service that is capable of taking care of its customers.

Ever since DIA opened and/or Pour La France set up there, my husband and I have always allowed an extra hour or so before a trip so that we can have a meal at Pour La France! We are absolutely never disappointed, and always delighted and, I have to admit it, surprised at the extremely high quality of the meals we are served there. Maybe it's to their advantage that they are set up in a (gasp) airport... and that they are out in the middle of nowhere... so your expectations might be lowered somewhat. I always have a wonderful latte - a Mimosa - I most lately had the brie & chicken panini and it was perfectly toasted, hot, etc. Hubby always has the salmon/lox & capers on a bagel. You get the view down into the (sometimes not functioning?) fountain & the arrival area, so there are always reunions and shouts of recognition & joy going on right below your table. The fabulous roof of DIA stretches up above you, and gives you enough to talk about, trying to decide how (and IF) they clean it up there, if they've ever sprung a leak, whether birds make their nests up there... and the service has always surprised us - pleasantly - as well. These are busy guys and gals, with high-strung airline passenger people busting in and flying out, but they keep their smiles on, the service is quick and accurate, and frankly, I think I need to pack up RIGHT NOW and just go over there for a bite to eat! Our highest ratings for them!

Pros Fresh food, perfect temperature food (hot is hot, etc.), quality ingredients, fast service in a gracious setting (especially for an airport), better & more interesting than "standard fare" on the menu.

Pour la France, Denver International Airport, 2008-02-19. It occurs to me that I have eaten there more times than all other places in the state of Colorado added together.
